Domaine de Couron
Côtes du Rhône Villages

Grower: Jean-Luc and Marie-Lise Dorthe
Grape Varieties: 40% Grenache, 25% Syrah, 35% Mourvèdre
Vines Age: Grenache (50 years)), Syrah (52 years) Mourvèdre (48 years)

Village: Saint Marcel d’Ardeche, 55 miles northwest of Avignon.
Soil: Grown on 2.72 acres terraced, at 190meters, large granite stones covering limestone. The area is rich with ancient ruins, including               vestiges of Roman settlements.

Vinification: Three passes in the vineyard, for hand selection of only the healthiest unbroken grapes, with ripe skins. Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre are all de-stemmed.  Maturation occurs without oak, for a pure expression of this complex and long lived wine.

Tasting Notes

“Rather ripe, offering blueberry and cherry confiture aromas and flavor, with a lovely light toasty spice on the finish.  A touch obvious, but with delicious fruit.”
