Domaine de Couron
Grower: Jean-Luc and Marie Lise Dorthe
Location: Saint Marcel d’Ardeche, 45 miles northwest of Avignon.
Vineyard: Gravel and sand over a limestone base. Merlot rootstock originates from an estate in Pomerol (Bordeaux), in 1974. The area is
rich with ancient ruins, including vestiges of Roman settlements.
Yield: 43 Ha/Hl
Vinification: The hand-picked fruit is delivered to the cellars, where it is vinified in small concrete vats for up to ten days, followed by a week of maceration on the skins. Maceration for a full eight days without pressing. Fermentation at 48° for maximum depth of silky flavor.
